Stalker, stop stalking!

Helldivers 2 secretly buffed these weapons and created a new meta

I like to think that I am a very patient person who can face any challenge in life with a smile on my face. I am well mannered, polite and forgiving. But there is one thing that reliably infuriates me, that turns me into an angry and incoherent fool. That would be one of the most annoying video game enemies of all time: The Stalker from Helldivers 2, a bug that somehow feels like it's trying to target me specifically because of some deep personal grudge.

Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead has thrown out plenty of unexpected surprises, like a suicide mission to an insect-infested planet that tore open a black hole, or a shocking Automaton counter-invasion days after we thought we'd wiped the robots off the map. All of this is child's play compared to the Stalker, an enemy that hides, waits to jump you and then gouge you out with its fluttering tongue and slashing claws.

At first the Stalkers were stealthy, but not completely cloaked; they had a shimmering effect that allowed players to see their outlines from a distance, especially under weather effects such as fog. Near the end of April, Arrowhead changed this and made Stalkers truly stealthy. It's possible to glimpse some shimmer if the conditions are perfect, but realistically you'll probably get jumped on and then thoroughly pounded.
