Despite the renewed focus that Kevin Costner showed on the tetralogy, it seems that leaving Yellowstone for the Dances with Wolves alum might not have been the right move.

Kevin Costner & Taylor Sheridan has discussed the future of 'Yellowstone'

Kevin Costner's Horizon: An American Saga was the most ambitious project the actor had been a part of since leaving the critically acclaimed Yellowstone series. It is widely known that Costner had invested a healthy sum of his personal wealth to make the film, which was to be the first part of a tetralogy.

After starring in the show for nearly five seasons, Costner proceeded to leave the show for the first half of its fifth season, focusing on his epic western of a film series, Horizon: An American Saga. But after bombing at the box office and receiving some very critical reviews, Costner is not at his best, especially considering he had very high hopes for Horizon.

An insider report released by Life & Style magazine has revealed that Kevin Costner is in quite a tight spot thanks to his investment in Horizon: An American Saga. There was a lot riding on the film, given that it was reported that $38 million of the actor's own money was invested in the film, which could not be recovered by the domestic box office.
