HOUSE OF THE DRAGON Season 2 Episode 8 Endings Explained

Larys Strong informs King Aegon that they must leave King's Landing and not return for a while because the Queen has found new riders for the dragons. He tells him that Aemond has taken the news badly by burning Sharp Point (where we saw him hovering over the land with Vhagar). Aegon declares that he is crippled, broken and does not want to leave but stay and take his place on the throne.

Aemond stormed in to speak with Helaena and inform her that she must mount the Dreamfyre and ride into battle. Helaena says she won't ride, but Aemond takes her by the arm and says she has no choice. Alicent stops him by grabbing her and not letting Aemond go with her, saying that she will not ride into the war.

Later, Aemond approaches Helaena to take her to Harrenhal to lay waste to Daemon and the land. Helaena asks if she refuses if he will burn her the same way he did with his brother Aegon. He refutes what she says, but she says she saw it and knows his fate. Aemond threatens to have her killed, and she tells him it won't change his fate.
