Before House of the Dragon Season 2 premiered in June, the show was already renewed for Season 3, as confirmed by the press release. Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President of HBO and Head of HBO Drama Series and Films shared a word about HOTD Season 3:

We are in awe of the effort the entire team has put into creating a spectacular season two, with a scope and scale rivaled only by heart. We couldn't be more excited to continue the story of House Targaryen and see this team on fire again for season three.

Thus, HBO Max has already given the green light to go with Season 3. However, since Season 2 just ended, nothing regarding the start of production or release date has been confirmed yet. But we do know that it took about two years to deliver Season 2 after Season 1 because of the sheer scale of production that the crew brings to the table. Thus, based on this release pattern, we can expect House of the Dragon Season 3 to premiere in mid-2026.
