Control notifications on Android. Depending what notifications you want, you can change settings for certain apps or for your whole Android device. Notifications show when you swipe down from the top of your screen. Some notifications can also show on your lock screen and home screen. Important: Do Not Disturb can block notifications.

A notification group allows you to collapse multiple notifications into just one post in the notification drawer, with a summary. The user can then expand the notification to reveal the details for each individual notification. The user can progressively expand the notification group and each notification within it for more details. Figure 10.

If you like Samsung’s notification-area toggles and wish your device had them, you can get them with a third-party app. Just install the Notification Toggle app from Google Play.

There’re more new/unread notifications as the system is able to show in the notification bar. The addiotional notifications can be viewed by swiping down the notification bar to open the notification area. (only Smasung devices) The feature Samsung SmartStay is enabled.

To expand a notification, tap the Down arrow . Then, to act directly from a notification, tap an action, like Reply or Archive. Some apps show a dot when you get a notification. Touch and hold the app with the dot to see the oldest notification. Then, clear each to show the next. Learn about notification dots. Important: Settings can vary by phone.

You can select the default sound for notifications in the Sound & notification menu by tapping Default notification ringtone. Some apps allow you to customize the sound for notifications from that app. This option can be found in the settings menu within those apps.

There are many reasons that notifications may not be working. Frequently, it’s a battery optimization issue, see the list of steps further below. Notifications are enabled and DO NOT DISTURB mode is disabled on your phone. You don’t have the Wire app open on any other device.
