Some jewelers also make rings and other jewelry from aircraft grade titanium. Once purified, titanium doesn’t need much treatment or processing to be turned into beautiful pieces of jewelry.

There are a number of different metals available for crafting fine jewelry, depending on the results you want to achieve. Naturally, gold and silver are common choices, but, for some time now, titanium has also been a top choice for men and women.

It is strong and durable Titanium rings (mostly 99% pure metal is used for jewelry) feature higher fatigue resistance. The material can withstand a very high level of stress while being stretched or pulled before failing or breaking. Titanium also has very high strength-to-weight ratios.

The reason for this is that these rings are made from a solid piece of titanium which cannot be melted down like metal. The inability to melt the metal makes it very difficult to lower the size of the ring as sections would need to be cut away.

GOING BIGGER In the case of a ring being too snug, the most effective way to enlarge titanium jewelry is by carefully shaving off the inside surface of the ring to make some wiggle room. Most jewelers who use this process can increase a titanium ring measurement by up to 1/2 a ring size.

Why Are Titanium Rings So Cheap? Because it’s a natural metal that’s abundant, and also because it’s relatively easy to manufacture compared to other metals, titanium is much cheaper than gold, platinum, and similar precious metals.

But why is it so expensive? Titanium cannot be extracted by using carbon to reduce the ore as it forms titanium carbide making the metal very brittle. It is the complexity of this process and the energy expended in production that gives titanium its high market price.

Rings made from titanium do not tarnish, therefore they will not give you a green ring around your finger. Since titanium rings are made of good quality titanium metal, your finger won’t turn green when you wear one.

Titanium rings will stand up to the wear and tear of everyday life far better than rings made of platinum or gold without tarnishing or bending. Unlike other metals, titanium will not corrode or tarnish. Titanium can maintain a beautifully polished shine for a lifetime.

Titanium, like all jewelry metals, will acquire scratches through daily wear. These scratches are easy to see on new jewelry – however, over time a natural satin patina will be developed over the surface – making scratches almost unnoticeable.
