Government agencies have to provide legislations, regulations and controls for tourism in order to ensure its tourism industry can sustain its level and compete with other tourist destination. The promotion on tourist destinations helps its national economic and attraction competitiveness around the world.

The government may not be directly involved in tourism support, except in some areas of national importance such as developing tourism information systems or national tourism promotion. Therefore, the role of the government is to act as an economic power that will guide and manage tourism development.
