7 tips for dealing with reviewer comments

1. Use the reviewer comments even if your paper is rejected.
2. Be polite – but not over-polite.
3. Don’t feel obliged to accept everything the reviewer says.

If the article is from a printed journal, look at the publication information in the front of the journal. If the article is from an electronic journal, go to the journal home page and look for a link to ‘About this journal’ or ‘Notes for Authors’. Here it should tell you if the articles are peer-reviewed.

Identifying Scholarly Articles

1. Author(s) name included. Scholarly articles are written by experts of researchers, so make sure that the author’s name is included.
2. Technical or specialized language.
3. Written for professionals.
4. Charts, graphs, and diagrams.
5. Long (5+ pages)
6. Bibliography included.

In short, “scholarly” means the article was written by an expert for an audience of other experts, researchers or students. “Peer-reviewed” takes it one step further and means the article was reviewed and critiqued by the author’s peers who are experts in the same subject area.

Is Your Journal Article Peer-Reviewed?

1. Go to Ulrich’s: Click to open Ulrich’s.
2. Type the JOURNAL TITLE (not the article title) into the search box, and click the green search button.
3. In the search results, look for a referee jersey icon to indicate that a journal is refereed.

The easiest way to find a peer-reviewed article is by using one of the Library’s numerous databases. All of the Library’s databases are listed in the Online Journals and Databases index. The databases are divided by name and discipline.

Giving Peer Feedback

GUIDELINES FOR IN-CLASS PEER REVIEW

1. Hand a copy of your paper to each of your peer reviewers.

Peer review involves subjecting the author’s scholarly work and research to the scrutiny of other experts in the same field to check its validity and evaluate its suitability for publication. A peer review helps the publisher decide whether a work should be accepted.

A peer-reviewed publication is also sometimes referred to as a scholarly publication. The peer-review process subjects an author’s scholarly work, research, or ideas to the scrutiny of others who are experts in the same field (peers) and is considered necessary to ensure academic scientific quality.

Unable to upload the assignment file

1. While uploading your files, ensure that the upload file format is exactly the same as mentioned in the assignment instructions.
2. The upload link will also have the file upload size limit (50 MB). Please make sure that your submission is smaller than 50 MB.

Missed deadlines don’t affect your grade in most courses. You’ll still be able to earn a Course Certificate once you complete all your work. If you submit a peer-reviewed assignment after your personalized schedule ends, you might not get enough peer reviews.

This usually happens when your session has ended or has not yet started. If you don’t see an option to join a new session or reset your deadlines, you will need to get help from a support agent with this.

To edit and resubmit a peer reviewed assignment:

1. Open the course you want to resubmit an assignment in.
2. Click the Grades tab.
3. Open the assignment you want to resubmit.
4. Click Edit submission at the bottom of the submission page.
5. If you have already gotten feedback, you’ll need to confirm your choice to edit your project.

From my prvious study experience in Coursera, there is no such a single resource to meet your need. But you can find solutions from the corresponding courses. Professors will release them after the assignment deadline or at the end of courses.

You can take the same quiz as many times as you want to. Some quizzes might require you to wait a certain amount of time before trying again. Your highest-scoring attempt will be saved and will count as your final score for the quiz.

You can attempt each quiz up to three times every 8 hours, with an unlimited number of total attempts.

That said, Coursera is an open platform, so each specific course will vary in quality and depth of information.

Absolutely. Consider it an open-book, open-note exam/quiz. The only restriction is that they are YOUR notes. Using work product from someone else is specifically disallowed.
