Add *subdomains* to the Compatibility View List

When a site is incompatible with Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7, you’ll see the Compatibility View button. in the address bar. By turning on Compatibility View, you can help fix display problems on sites.

Compatibility mode in IE is a feature that helps you view webpages that were designed for previous versions of the browser, however having it enabled can break newer sites that were designed for modern browsers. Here’s how to disable it and make sure it only runs for older sites.

To turn on Compatibility View:

1. Click the Settings Icon on the address bar in your web browser.
2. Choose Compatibility View settings.
3. In Add this website menu, type pitt.edu if it’s not automatically populated.
4. Click the Add button then click the Close button.
5. Refresh your webpage. Network Standard.

Internet Explorer 11 – Setting a Website to Display in Compatibility View

1. In Internet Explorer, click on the Tools menu.
2. Click Compatibility View Settings.
3. Under Add this website, enter the URL of the site you want to add.
4. Click Add.

Let’s add your subdomain to the compatiblity view. To add a sub domain to the compatibility view you have to add it to the local group policy. Go to start and search for Edit Group Policy. Or press CTRL + R and type in GPEDIT.msc. open Edit group policy. Add subdomain to compatibility view. We now have to navigate to directory.

Try IE7 Enterprise Mode. If IE8 Enterprise Mode doesn’t work, IE7 Enterprise Mode will give you the Compatibility View behavior that shipped with Internet Explorer 8 with Enterprise Mode. To try this approach: Go to the Tools menu, select Compatibility View Settings, and add the site to the list.
