How to change Alexa’s language

1. Open the Alexa app on your smartphone.
2. Tap on “Devices” in the lower right corner of the bottom menu.
3. Tap on “Echo and Alexa.”
4. Tap on your Echo device within the app.
5. Scroll down to and tap on “Language” under “General.”

The feature uses Amazon’s speech recognition technology and neural machine translation technology to work, and supports translating between English and French, Spanish, Hindi, Portuguese (Brazilian), German or Italian.

With Alexa, you can ask her to play music, hear the news, check weather, control smart home devices, and yes, you can even learn a language. Since Alexa is all about talking and listening, you can start listening to Urdu words, phrases and conversations. You can also practice speaking Urdu by repeating what you hear.

Open the Alexa app Tap on the Alexa app icon to open up the app. Tap the three-barred menu icon at the top left of the home page, then tap Settings > Device Settings. Wait until the list of connected devices pops up on the screen, then choose the device for which you’d like to change Alexa’s voice.

Changing the device name Go to alexa.amazon.com or open the Amazon Alexa app on iOS or Android. In the Android or iOS apps, click the hamburger button in the upper left corner to expand the side menu. In the side menu, select Settings. Type in a new name and click Save Changes.

Can I change Alexa to a man’s voice? No. At the moment, though there are multiple ways to change Alexa’s voice, she still remains primarily female.
