How to Clean a Flat-Screen TV

1. Turn off your TV and unplug it.
2. Using a soft, dry microfiber cloth, gently wipe the screen in a circular motion to clean off any dust and debris.
3. For hard-to-remove stains, moisten your cloth with distilled water.
4. If that fails, use a solution of mild dish soap and distilled water.

70% isopropyl alcohol will tackle fingerprints and smudges. Mist it onto a cloth or use a pre-moistened alcohol wipe; do not use bleach. Wipe the glass surface and corners, being careful not to let any excess moisture get into speakers or ports. Allow the screen to air dry.

Windex is a no-no, unless you’ve got an antique TV with a glass display. You’ll also want to make sure you don’t spray liquid directly on your TV. Doing so can damage its display or even cause an electric fire.

TV screen still smudged? Dampen a microfiber cloth with a 50-50 water and vinegar solution. Wring the cloth tightly to ensure no liquid will drip from cloth, then gently wipe off smudges and fingerprints.

Do not use Windex or other glass cleaners! Such solutions generally contain ammonia and will hurt your TV screen. Do not use paper towels; they leave behind tiny bits of paper that can mess up your display.

Can I use eyeglass cleaner on my TV screen? Eyeglass cleaner can also be used to clean TV screen if you have it at home. Apply it by wiping the screen and if there is ink or stain on your screen, then soak the eyeglass cleaner on a glass of water, squeeze the water out then wipe it again. Try to avoid using soap.

Samsung includes microfiber cleaning cloths with most of its TVs. If you have such a cleaning cloth, attempt to clean you screen with it before moving forward with a more involved process. Turn off and unplug your TV. Go over the screen with soft, clean, dry and lint free cloth to remove any dust.
