Any inmate who wants to marry can submit to the Warden/designee, a written request for authorization to marry. The intended spouse must also submit a written statement verifying his/her intention to marry the inmate.

How to Marry a Prisoner. Regulations for marrying a prisoner will vary from prison to prison, but most institutions require a Marriage Packet Request to get permission to marry the prisoner. To accomplish this, simply make an inmate request for a marriage packet.

Marriage Law Requirements for Missouri:

A Missouri marriage license can ONLY be used for ceremonies taking place in the State of Missouri. It is required to have 2 witnesses in Missouri. Individuals must be at least 18 years old to obtain a marriage license; however, with parental consent one can be granted at age 16.

The license fee of $51.00 must be paid in Cash or by Debit/Credit Card (there is a convenience fee for card use) at the time of application. No refunds. Missouri law has eliminated the 3-day waiting period to obtain a marriage license.
