To stop Google contacts from automatically syncing:

Duplicating contacts is really common and happens when you’re syncing contacts from multiple sources. Once you add your Gmail account to your Android™ device, your Google contacts are automatically synced. This is helpful because you know your contact information is backed up.

This usually happens when you have your phone set to show all contacts in the contacts manager app and you also have the phone set to sync contacts across accounts. If you set the contact app to show contacts from just one source like Google,Phone or SIM card you will then not see duplicates.

1. On your Android phone or tablet, open your Settings.
2. Tap Google Settings for Google apps Google Contacts sync Status.
3. Turn off Automatically sync.

Access your Contacts app and tap on the menu button. From the menu, tap on “Merge accounts” and from next prompt tap on “Merge from Google”. From the next prompt, tap on “OK” and all your contacts will be merged. This will merge the accounts to get rid of duplicate contacts that were created due to multiple accounts.

Sometimes duplicate iPhone contacts occur due to iCloud errors or erroneous syncing between email accounts and calendars.

Delete contacts

1. A single contact: Tap the contact. At the top right, tap More Delete. Delete.
2. Multiple contacts: Touch and hold a contact and then tap the other contacts. Tap Delete Delete.
3. All contacts: At the top right, tap More Select all Delete. Delete.

Select All Contacts from the Groups list. Go through your contacts and mark the ones you’d like to delete by tapping on the circle outline to the left of their name. Tap Choose Action at the top. Tap on Delete contacts… in the popup menu.

Select the contacts you want to delete, holding down the Control button to select more than one at a time. Then either hit the delete key on your keyboard, or click the settings button on the lower left and pick delete.

How to delete Gmail contacts on an Android

1. Open up the Contacts app on your Android.
2. Tap on the contact you want to delete.
3. Select the “More” button, which is represented by three vertical dots.
4. Tap “Delete” again to confirm.

In the To: field, start typing an email address. Click the “X” at the right on each address. or use the up and down arrows on your keyboard, select the email address you would like to remove from the suggested contacts list. Press the Delete key on your keyboard.

Here’s what you have to do:

1. Sign into your Google Account.
2. Navigate to Contacts in the upper-left corner of the screen.
3. Hover over the contact that you want to delete until you see a checkmark.
4. Click the checkmark and select all the contacts that you want to delete.

In the previous version, you could switch to the contacts list by clicking the Gmail menu on the left side of the page, but that method no longer works once you update to the refreshed Gmail. You can now get to the contacts page by clicking the Apps icon in the upper right corner of the Gmail inbox.

See your contacts

1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Contacts app .
2. At the top left, tap Menu . See contacts by label: Choose a label from the list. See contacts for another account: Tap Down arrow. pick an account. See the contacts for all your accounts: Choose All contacts.

Back up & sync device contacts by saving them as Google contacts:

1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the “Settings” app.
2. Tap Google Settings for Google apps Google Contacts sync Also sync device contacts Automatically back up & sync device contacts.
3. Turn on Automatically back up & sync device contacts.

How to make sure your Android contacts are saved to your Gmail account

1. Go to your Settings. (Home key, Menu key, then Settings).
2. Tap Accounts. It might say “Accounts and sync” or it might just say “Accounts”.
3. Look for your Gmail. Your Gmail should be shown on the Accounts page. It might be listed under Google.

Move a contact

1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Contacts app .
2. Select a contact.
3. At the top right, tap Menu Move to another account.
4. Choose the Google Account you want to move the contact to.

How to transfer contacts from one Gmail account to another

1. Head to ‘contacts.google.com on your PC.
2. Click on the ‘More’ option.
3. Choose ‘Export’ option from the drop-down menu.
4. In the next step, select all the contacts you want to transfer and export it as ‘Google CSV format.
