Adjust the iPad’s volume

Open Control Center. If you have an iPad without Face ID, you open Control Center by swiping up from the bottom, but if your iPad does have Face ID, swipe down from the upper right corner. Look for the mute button. It’s muted if it’s highlighted, just tap it once to unmute the iPad.

Go to Settings > Sounds (or Settings > Sounds & Haptics), and drag the Ringer and Alerts slider back and forth a few times. If you don’t hear any sound, or if your speaker button on the Ringer and Alerts slider is dimmed, your speaker might need service. Contact Apple Support for iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

1. Tap the Settings icon on the Home screen. A list of settings appears on the left.
2. In the General settings, tap Sounds. The Sounds options appear on the right.
3. Tap and drag the slider to the right to increase the volume, or to the left to lower it.
4. Tap the Home button to close Settings.

If you lost all sound, try rebooting the iPad. Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears – ignore the red slider – let go of the buttons. If you have sound in the music app, system sounds are probably muted.

Android: Go to Settings > Apps & notifications > App permissions or Permission Manager > Microphone and switch on the toggle for Zoom.

In rare instances, a hardware incompatibility, software update, or Windows reinstallation can cause your sound to stop working, and you may need to tweak something in the BIOS. If that doesn’t help, check what BIOS or UEFI version you’re using, and compare it to the latest version on your laptop manufacturer’s website.

Laptop speakers not working, how to fix them?

1. Reinstall your audio drivers.
2. Update your audio driver.
3. Modify your registry.
4. Make sure that your audio sensor is working.
5. Make sure that your sound isn’t muted.
6. Check the default audio device.
7. Run the built-in troubleshooter.
8. Try external speakers or headphones.

No sound at all. First thing to check: The audio output device. Verify via the speaker icon in the taskbar that the audio is not muted and is turned up. Ensure that the computer isn’t muted via hardware, such as a dedicated mute button on you laptop or keyboard.

If this doesn’t help, continue to the next tip.

1. Run the audio troubleshooter.
2. Verify that all Windows Updates are installed.
3. Check your cables, plugs, jacks, volume, speaker, and headphone connections.
4. Check sound settings.
5. Fix your audio drivers.
6. Set your audio device as the default device.
7. Turn off audio enhancements.

Try press and hold FN key then ESC to enable toggle FN Lock. If that doesn’t work, check if you have Windows Mobility Center installed then set FN key row as Multimedia key instead of Standard keys.

The Fn key performs special functions, such as adjusting the screen’s brightness and speaker volume. As you can see in the image above, this laptop has an Fn key with a green and blue Fn. Keys with symbols of the same color indicate that their secondary function will be activated by pressing that key with the Fn key.
