A map legend or key is a visual explanation of the symbols used on the map. It typically includes a sample of each symbol (point, line, or area), and a short description of what the symbol means. Creating a well laid out legend will enhance the overall gestalt of the maps visual appearance.

A map key or legend is included with a map to unlock it. It gives you the information needed for the map to make sense. Maps often use symbols or colors to represent things, and the map key explains what they mean. Symbols in the key might be pictures or icons that represent different things on the map.

A legend displays the meaning of the symbols used to represent features on the map. Legends consist of examples of the symbols on the map with labels containing explanatory text. Often, legend patches are points, straight lines, or rectangles that match the map symbols.

A grey icon with a white dot in it has appeared on the iPhone 8+ screen. This is assistive touch –> Use AssistiveTouch on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch Go to Settings > Accessibility > Touch, then select AssistiveTouch to turn it off.

When an orange pin is selected, it displays the time and date of a crime and a description of the incident. When a grey icon is clicked on, a full profile of a criminal – including a mug shot, full name, date of birth, height and weight, residential address and crime committed – are displayed on the screen.

If you toggle it off, your current location won’t be visible to the people you were sharing it with previously. They’ll see a “location unavailable” message when they attempt to pull up your location, which is the same message the app shows if your phone is turned off.

A notification placed above the compass in Google Maps will always remind you that location sharing is turned on, so you will know if someone has access to your location. And if you choose the “until you turn it off” option Google will periodically send you emails, reminding you that location sharing is active.
