If your car is experiencing any of the problems listed below, you may have a faulty ignition coil on your hands:

1. Open the hood of your Kia / Hyundai.
2. Disconnect the battery negative terminal.
3. Remove the engine cover.
4. Remove the white harness from the top of the coils.
5. Remove 10 mm bolts that hold the coils in place.
6. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the ignition coils.
7. Pull out the old ignition coils.

Signs of a Bad Ignition Coil

1. Illuminated Check Engine Light. With most modern vehicles, a faulty ignition coil is enough to turn on the Check Engine Light.
2. Misfiring Engine. If an ignition coil is not working properly, your engine will likely misfire.
3. Hard Starts.
4. Worsening Gas Mileage.
5. Diminished Power.
6. Sudden Backfires.

Yes you can mix coils as long as the primary and secondary values are what’s specified for your system. Your bike won’t care a bit.

On newer vehicles, a coil pack replaces the distributor. Coil packs usually create a better spark, which in turn produces better combustion and horsepower in a car’s engine.
