The Process to Becoming a Certified Coach:

1. Step 1: Coaching Association of Canada: Register for a Coach Certification (NCCP) Number.
2. Step 2: NCCP Making Ethical Decisions.
3. Step 3: Take a coaching training course!
4. Step 4: Register with the Athletics Canada (AC) Portal.
5. Step 5: Complete Portfolio and Evaluations.

Canada does not require life coaches to hold a license. However, many life coaches obtain certification from training institutes. Most certification programs require you to complete training offered by the certifying organization. Each CCF certification requires you to first complete a corresponding training program.

These are the basic steps you need to take if you’re pursue a career in sports coaching:

1. Pursue a bachelor’s degree. One of the first steps you need to take to qualify for a job as a sports coach is to complete a bachelor’s degree.
2. Consider a master’s degree.
3. Obtain experience.
4. Pursue certifications.

School sports coaches generally need to have:

• interest and enthusiasm for many sports.
• good spoken communication skills.
• the ability to inspire confidence and motivate performance.
• the ability to analyse problems.
• perseverance and patience.
• good organisational skills.
• a sensitive and supportive approach.
• first aid skills.

To qualify for a varsity baseball coach position, you must have teacher certification and prior baseball coaching experience at the high school level. Other qualifications include having extensive knowledge of the sport and the approved policies and regulations set by the school district.

In baseball, for example, the median amounts of coaches’ total compensation (salaries and benefits) were $361,000 in Division I-AA, $149,000 in Division I-AA, $62,000 in Division II, and $51,000 in Division III.

While ZipRecruiter is seeing salaries as high as $143,660 and as low as $10,641, the majority of Life Coach salaries currently range between $26,119 (25th percentile) to $68,201 (75th percentile) with top earners (90th percentile) making $124,311 annually in Ontario.

Generally, there are no specific requirements needed to become a life coach. Many people who enter the field have a background in mental health or counseling. Others enter the field simply because they always loved helping people, offering advice and providing guidance.

Joe joined Team Ontario’s coaching staff in 2016-2017 after playing at the American collegiate level (see below). Joe made his mark at St. Theresa of Lisieux CHS as one of the finest baseball players in the school’s history. He was a very effective leader and served as captain.

“All coaches and field managers in their very first year of coaching, will be granted an extension of one (1) calendar year to complete the required modules for their specific division, provided they complete at a minimum the following 5 courses prior to June 15th of their first year coaching:

Daryl has joined the instructor staff at The Dugout—the Team Ontario Astros off-season training facility that also provides clinics and camps to younger players. Coach Ringwald began playing organized baseball at four years old in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia.

Dan has coached baseball since the age of 16 and has been involved in several organizations in Nova Scotia and Ontario. He was on the staff of the first Rep team in the Stouffville Baseball Association.
