The answer is chilling. Look up the temperatures needed to liquefy the four components and then cool the mixture and the propane and butane will become liquid.

Summary: To make natural gas and biogas suitable for use, the methane has to be separated from the carbon dioxide. This involves the use of membranes: filters that stop the methane and let the CO2 pass through. Researchers in Belgium have developed a new membrane that makes the separation process much more effective.

Distillation method….

The main difference between methane and ethane is that methane contains only one carbon atom bonded to four hydrogen atoms whereas ethane contains two carbon atoms bonded to each other and each carbon atom is bonded to three hydrogen atoms.

Although ethane is a greenhouse gas, it is much less abundant than methane, has a lifetime of only a few months compared to over a decade, and is also less efficient at absorbing radiation relative to mass. In fact, ethane’s global warming potential largely results from its conversion in the atmosphere to methane.

Ethane is an organic compound having the chemical formula C2H6 whereas ethanol is simple alcohol with the molecular formula of C2H5OH. The key difference between ethane and ethanol is that ethane is an alkane whereas ethanol is alcohol. However, both are organic compounds.

Because ethane has similar properties with methane and propane, it is reasonable to expect ethane to have similar emissions performance. The lack of awareness is the major barrier for using ethane as a transportation fuel.

The main products formed in the oxidation of methane at 300-450° C are methyl alcohol, formaldehyde, formic acid, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and water (Bone and Wheeler 1903; Bone and Allum 1932).

Ethane consumption in the United States has increased during the past several years because of its increased supply and lower cost relative to other petrochemical feedstocks such as propane and naphtha. Ethane can also be used directly as a fuel for power generation, either on its own or blended with natural gas.

3 Answers. Probably the biggest drivers behind using methane as a fuel is that it is abundant in natural gas and is (currently) mostly useless as a chemical feedstock.

As of now, no brand is offering an automatic vehicle which gets factory-fitted CNG kit. But, it is definitely possible to get a CNG kit retrofitted in your automatic vehicle.

Well, CNG does not reduce a vehicle’s engine life if the kit is factory-fitted and maintained timely. This is because OEM fitted CNG kits come with ECU (electronic control units) and fuel injection system that ensure adequate fuel supply.
