Medina Lake, an artificial lake on the Medina River, is eight miles northwest of the Medina River in southeast Bandera and northeast Medina counties (its center is at 29°32′ N, 98°56′ W).

They stocked Amistad and Inks in 1976 and Copper Breaks in 1975 and 1976 with Muskie. They stocked Tiger Muskie in Copper Breaks State Park, Leon, Meridian State Park, Mill Creek Lake, Nocona, and Raven in 1976 and stocked ’em in Alcoa in 1977. That’s from TPWD.

The predominant fish in the Amistad Reservoir are: Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Catfish, Black Bass, White Bass, and Striped Bass. Other fish found in the lake are carp, sunfish, blue gills, and crappie.

Amistad also has good numbers of striped bass, white bass, crappies and catfish. Walleyes were introduced in 1954 and the TPWD tried to establish a permanent population by stocking fry from 1975 through 1978, but the fish didn’t survive and the program was abandoned.

The clear blue water of Amistad Reservoir provides excellent fishing opportunities. Black Bass, stripers, channel and yellow catfish attract many anglers to Amistad. Texas fishing license requirements apply when fishing on the US side of Amistad Reservoir.

Big, clear and deep, Lake Amistad on the Texas-Mexico border near Del Rio provides catfish anglers with some of the most beautiful scenery in the state — as well as plenty of channel and flathead catfish to tug on their lines!

Fishing At Medina Lake Over 100 miles of shoreline await anglers at Medina Lake, a 5,400-acre lake in the south-central part of the state, at Mico. Bass, hybrid stripers, catfish, crappie, bluegill, sunfish and gar all reside in this normally clear lake. Bank fishing, or fishing from a canoe or kayak, are popular here.

Crappie fishing is generally poor, although occasionally good catches can be made, especially along standing timber in the river. Angling for redbreast sunfish can provide an excellent fishing experience for the family. Channel, blue, and flathead catfish are present in good numbers.

It is not impossible for alligators to live in Canyon Lake. Stories exist of alligators living in the warmer waters of the river, but no one has seen them in years now that the river runs colder and clearer.

Considered an excellent bass fishing destination, Canyon Lake in the south-central Texas, is 8,300-acres of fishing opportunity. In addition to bass, the lake has populations of crappie, catfish, stripers, white bass, sunfish and gar.

Fishing At Canyon Lake In Southern CA The lake is home to bass, catfish, crappie, walleye, trout and striped bass. The lake is for use by property owners, and their guests with proper permits.

The Texas Department of State Health Services issued a fish consumption advisory for Canyon Lake. They have similar advisories for dozens of bodies of water across the state. The state recommends women of childbearing ages not to eat any of the striped bass or longnose gar.

Tubing on the surface of the lake Alternatively, Canyon Lake Texas tubing can also be done on the lake itself. All you will need to do is enter the lake on a floatation device – you won’t really be moving as the lake is mostly static, but not all of us need a thrilling ride down a fast river.

Teeming wildlife American alligators live in the park. Choke Canyon is the westernmost place where they commonly occur.

Tubing with Your Own Tubes Personal tubes are allowed on the Comal River as long as they do not exceed five (5) feet in diameter. Tubers may begin their float at Hinman Island Park or Prince Solms Park at the City Tube Chute.
