If you want to switch and keep your existing phone number, text ‘PAC’ to 65075 to begin the process. Your provider will reply by text within a minute. They will send you your switching code, called a ‘PAC’, which will be valid for 30 days.

Transferring Within The Same Network A PAC Code can only be used when you’re transferring a phone number between two different networks. If you’re staying on the same mobile network but changing to a different phone or SIM card, it isn’t possible to use the PAC Code process.

How do I transfer my mobile number?

1. Call or text your current provider to request a mobile PAC code. A PAC code should be given to you immediately over the phone or within two hours by text.
2. Contact your new network and give them the PAC code.
3. Check the SIM works in your phone and the new number has ported across.

There are a few things that have to happen to move your number from one carrier to another (this is called a port), and the elapsed time may vary depending on how quickly your current provider processes the port. On average, ports take 7-10 days to complete; however, they can take up to 4 weeks in rare cases.

You can take the SIM card out, put it into another phone, and if someone calls your number, the new phone will ring. If the SIM card and phone serial number don’t match, the phone simply won’t work. The SIM card won’t work in other phones, and the phone won’t work with other SIM cards.

– The 3 Month Rule. A subscriber is eligible to make a porting request only after 90 days of the date of activation of his mobile connection. If a number is already ported once, the number can again be ported only after 90 days from the date of the previous porting.
