Bona Floor Polish is a semi-permanent product. Our Polish can be reapplied as it wears down, no more than every 2-4 months or longer to keep floors looking their best. There are three products that I typically choose from to remove scratches on any type of floor: Bona Hardwood Floor Polish, Rejuvenate All Floors Restorer or Lundmark Poly-Pro Tech. These are all water-based floor polishes that you can apply. When the floor is clean, squirt the product on like a polish.

If your floor isn’t too old or damaged, applying just two coats might be enough. Also, it is easier to apply and less temperamental when you work with different types of wood.

It is a protective layer, often made of urethane or wax and is usually intended to provide shine as well as protection to the permanent finish and stain. It is intended to be used on a clean, finished floor. Think of it like waxing your car (although I don’t recommend wax polishes).

Use an ammonia solution: An ammonia solution of 1 cup ammonia per gallon of water can be used to dissolve the buildup that’s causing the haziness of your floors. Remember to use this solution carefully since you don’t to do any further damage with excess water.

Bona Polish is NOT a hardwood floor cleaner. It is a cheap thin finish that you apply to your floors. Over time and repeated use the film gets thicker and it scuffs and scratches easily making the floors look unsightly. The only remedy to restore your floors is to strip the Bona Polish off.

According to Witulski, vinegar is the best cleaner for hardwood floors, and it also happens to be natural, safe, and inexpensive. Witulski suggests making a solution by mixing a quarter cup of apple cider vinegar with a gallon of warm water.

Cleaning hardwood floors with vinegar is a cheap and quick way to polish and shine your floors. Combine a half cup of white vinegar to one gallon warm water. With a soft mop wipe floors evenly, making sure to not leave any standing water.
