There is a 2.7 miles trail open for hiking. Please allow at least two and a half hours to three hours to complete the 5.4-mile roundtrip. Start your return hike one and a half hours before sunset. This trail is considered difficult to strenuous.

It’s accessible by water. To get to the waterfall if you’re on Center Hill Lake, head to Cookeville Boat Dock, go up the river, when you get to the fork, Burgess Falls is to the left! AND you will want to see Fancher Falls – it is to the right. You can also drop your kayak in near Burgess Falls State Park.

Many have lamented that Burgess Falls State Park never replaced the stairs to the base of the falls after the 2004 floods. Most photographers agree that the best view of the falls is from below; you will see why when you get there. The paddle is barely over 2 miles each way and is a great way to spend a few hours.

Our six mile trip is the shortest trip we offer. It will take on average 1 ½ hours to 3 hours depending on the generation (flow) of the river. This trip starts just below the dam. You will then paddle down river to a boat ramp access area called Happy Hollow.

Q. How to get to Burgess Falls from Cane Hollow?

Just before you get to Burgess Falls you cross a concrete bridge and you turn right just after crossing bridge to get to Burgess Falls. After turning right you travel maybe 100 yards and come to a stop sign, Burgess Falls is to the right, to get to Cane Hollow turn left at this stop sign.
