It’s only a short pool – about 17m probably, or maybe even less – but when the sun is blasting down and the sea is glittering all around, getting into a pool like this is one of life’s pure pleasures.

It must be about 30m wide and most people seem to do widths rather than lengths since those end up in ankle-deep water on the beach!

Silver Beach is a stretch of beach on the Kurnell peninsula fronting Botany Bay. There is a netted swimming area mid-way along Silver Beach. The swimming area is not patrolled.

50 metres long
Located on the eastern side of Palm Beach at the southern end. The rockpool is 50 metres long and access is off Ocean Road. Change rooms and toilets are available. Pay & display parking available.

Located at the southern end of Bilgola Beach. The rockpool is an 8 lane, 50 metre pool with concrete walls and floor.

Clovelly Road, Clovelly NSW 2031 The Geoff James Pool is located directly adjacent to Clovelly Beach on the southern side of the concrete promenade. It is a 25m salt water pool with four lanes ideal for lap swimmers. The pool is regularly cleaned and maintained by Randwick City Council.

The American Staffordshire Terrier, a rescue dog named Molly, was fetching a stick from the water off Bonna Point Reserve in Kurnell about 3pm on Sunday when the 3.5-metre shark seized her. Signs have been erected along the beachfront warning of a shark sighting.

The beach at Kurnell is long and lovely. Clean white sand, clear clean water. Through the week in summer the beach was utopia, quiet, only very few people, perfect for swimming.

Both Cronulla’s rock pools are on the same rock platform that sits between the North and South beaches. You can’t actually see them until you walk along the promenade under the cliff of the headland there.

This coffee shop had only been open a few months when I first dropped by, but it’s a great addition to the thriving Cronulla coffee scene, and best-placed for the rock pool, in my view! The coffee is excellent, too, as are the various toasted banana breads (or mango and coconut bread, as I tried on my second visit).

For just $25 per month, parents and their littles ones are invited to come enjoy this positive bonding experience in the water. This class is geared towards introducing ages 6 months to 3 years to the aquatic environment – focusing on water safety, positive interaction and more…while also having tons of fun!

There is a tall shower point just on the rock platform about 20m to the south of the bigger pool. This is the only facility here. If you need changing rooms and a toilet, you’ll have to go along to the Surf Life Saving Club on the south beach, some 500m away.
