BROOKFIELD, Ill. (CBS) — Brookfield Zoo announced Wednesday that it will be closing for the months of January and February due to the economic fallout from the coronavirus pandemic.

The Brookfield Zoo is better for kids, and the Lincoln Park Zoo is best for adults.

Brookfield Zoo is open 365 days a year from 10 am to 5 pm with extended hours for special events. Admission is $24.95 for ages 12-64, $19.95 for ages 65+, $17.95 for ages 3-11, children 2 and under are free. Groups of 15 or more may purchase tickets in advance. Additional parking fees apply.

Brookfield Zoo Free Admission Days From January 1 through February 29, 2020: free admission is provided on Saturdays, Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. In October and November, zoo admission is free on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

In October and November, zoo admission is free on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The following month, free days will be on Mondays and Tuesdays through December 22.

Please note there are no refunds, exchanges, or rain checks. Passes must be surrendered at entrance when you arrive for your visit.

Reservations are NO LONGER REQUIRED to visit Brookfield Zoo! While you are able to reserve your tickets beforehand, members and guests are welcome to arrive at the zoo without a reservation. If you do purchase admission tickets online, please note that all tickets are non-refundable and no rain checks will be made.

FOOD & BEVERAGES Guests are allowed to bring their own food and drink to the zoo. However, bringing alcohol into the zoo is prohibited. Guests are also not allowed to bring glass containers into the zoo. Alcohol is allowed only in designated areas.

Free Days at Brookfield Zoo – 2020 Zoo Hours Brookfield Zoo is open every day of the year. Please note that all indoor animal exhibits, as well as play areas, splash pads, water misters, drinking fountains, The Carousel, Motor Safari tram rides, and any indoor Attractions are currently closed.

The Chicago Zoological Society has a policy of giving IL school groups, including children, chaperones and teachers, free admission to Brookfield Zoo for annual class outings if the group registers online at least eight days in advance of their visit.

If you are visiting us from another zoo, we reciprocate 50% admission for the two adults named on the card (photo ID required) and children included on the membership. Guest privileges are not reciprocated.

There are so many places in Brookfield Zoo where you can see reptiles and they’re all indoor escapes perfect for riding out the rain. The Swamp is home to alligators and crocs as well as all kinds of snakes and lizards.

Come inside the Living Coast and gaze at fish, corals, and even sharks. Large tanks will immerse you in ocean life, while smaller ones will offer up-close windows to the water world’s tiniest creatures.

While you won’t be able to go inside, the habitats all around Pachydern House will be full of animals. That includes the rhinos, pygmy hippos, Galapagos & African spurred tortoises, giant anteater, and tapirs. All of your favorite California sea lions and grey seals will be out and about at Pinniped Point.

Brookfield Zoo Parking The South Gate parking lot is adjacent to Riverside Brookfield High School and smaller than the North Lot, but a shorter walk to the zoo entrance. Parking for non-members at either gate is $15. Parking is free for members at the North Gate and $5 at the South Gate.

Payment for parking is required. Please present your military ID at one of the zoo’s admission booths for entry.

It takes my family on average 4-5 hours to walk the entire zoo. We do like to stand and watch some of the animals so that could be why it takes us so long but the zoo itself is rather large and will take time no matter what.
