The Golden Sun series is a series of video games created by Camelot Software Planning and published by Nintendo for various portable systems. At present, three games have been released.

It’s all prerendered. World map is clearly mode 7, sprites are simply scaled the farther back they appear to be in battle. GBA can do 3D, but even worse than the PS1 can. So it’s clearly not rendering them.

This was followed shortly by 2003 sequel Golden Sun: The Lost Age, but from there the series all but disappeared until late last month when the Nintendo-published Golden Sun: Dark Dawn marked its triumphant return on GBA successor the Nintendo DS .

Like really long. Proclaimed by Nintendo Power as the best RPG on the Game Boy Advance (GBA) at the time, Golden Sun boasts an impressive average play time of 40.5 hours, according to GameFAQs, though you can easily beat it in 15-20 hours if you ignore all the side quests.

Overall, it’s a great game, and it’s not hard to get into and play. Definitely a game you should play. The only issue is playing Golden Sun The Lost Age, since I don’t think that’s out on Wii U. The game is visually impressive for a GBA game, but compared to today’s standards, not so much.
