If we choose North American standards the average coffee thermos can hold between 2 to 8.5 cups of coffee.

If you just want the option for a small soup bowl at lunch, you can go with 10 ounces or smaller. If you want to carry a hearty meal in your flask, 16 ounces is likely the better fit.

Your Hydro Flask may smell or taste like metal due to bacteria build up or metal leeching and issues with the stainless steel. Soaking your Hydro Flask in a vinegar/water mix often fixes the problem.

*You shouldn’t:* Put your flask through the dishwasher or soak the exterior in hot water: The dishwasher can get hot enough to affect the insulation property of the flask as well as discolor the powder coat. Similarly, soaking your entire flask in hot water can discolor the powder coat.

The one edge that YETI may have over Hydro Flask is that in our tests the YETI bottles are more durable, slightly. Also, this is a personal preference thing, but we like the lid on the YETI bottles better. It has a solid handle vs. the strap-style on Hydro Flasks.

Since there is no matter, the temperature outside of the flask has a difficult time affecting the temperature of the contents inside the flask. So no, you do not need to put your Hydro Flask in the fridge. Hydro Flask also has a Lifetime Warranty against manufacturer’s defects.
