There is no charge to do a tour of Big Ben.

Visiting Big Ben and The Houses of Parliament Visitors are allowed to attend debates, watch committee hearings and take a tour inside the Houses of Parliament, but only UK residents will be allowed to tour the inside of Big Ben.

Big Ben is one of London’s top attractions. The Elizabeth Tower is currently closed for refurbishment, with no public tours available. You can still join a talk on the Elizabeth Tower or take a tour of the Houses of Parliament next to The Elizabeth Tower.

I found the best time to visit to get pictures with few people in them was either early in the morning, or after 9:00 at night. The palace is beautifully lit at night, so it’s worth stopping by in the evening to view the Palace. The crowds at the changing of the guards are huge.

Although in use for the many official events and receptions held by The Queen, the State Rooms at Buckingham Palace are open to visitors every summer. Buckingham Palace has 775 rooms. These include 19 State rooms, 52 Royal and guest bedrooms, 188 staff bedrooms, 92 offices and 78 bathrooms.

The Presidential Emergency Operations Center (PEOC, PEE-ock) is a bunker-like structure underneath the East Wing of the White House. It serves as a secure shelter and communications center for the President of the United States and others in case of an emergency.

The White House is the president’s residence and office; the Capitol is the meeting place of the Senate and House of Representatives. The Capitol has a dome. The White House doesn’t. The White House is where the chief executive lives.
