The movie collection was taken from the platform on Wednesday, June 30th 2021, just in time for a new slate of titles in July.

As you may know, Netflix will get the Harry Potter movies under a license which means it pays for the movies for a fixed amount of time. In January 2019, Netflix in Australia and New Zealand were recipients of all eight movies too. However, they all departed in January 2020.

So mark your calendar as Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 depart on the platform on Sunday, January 31, 2021. The company has not disclosed why they have been removed.

As of right now, the Harry Potter franchise is not available on Netflix (which is raising prices) or Disney+, but they are available to stream for free via NBCU’s Peacock. Thanks to their ad-supported tier, you don’t have to pay a dime to watch any of the eight films right this moment.

Disney (DIS), which currently owns the rights to the Potter movies, will relinquish rights in the summer of 2018, allowing NBCU the flexibility to air both original versions of the films and 3D editions, as well as separate shorter features affiliated with the franchise.
