Chromebooks have been getting a lot of attention recently for new features like Dark Mode, Chrome OS Recycle Bin, Read Later, Clipboard History, Phone Hub and more. Of all the features, I know many are eagerly waiting for a system-wide dark mode to come to Chrome OS. Well, the wait is over. You can now enable dark mode on a Chromebook by enabling a simple Chrome flag. So without further ado, let's move on and learn how to experience the new dark theme on Chromebooks.

How to Enable Dark Mode on Chromebook – Turn on Dark Theme for Chrome OS

To enable system-wide dark mode on a Chromebook, you need to enable some Chrome flags. You no longer need to be on the Beta or Dev channel of Chrome OS as the dark mode feature has come to the stable channel, but it is not enabled by default.

1. Open chrome://flags in the browser and search for "dark". Alternatively, you can open chrome://flags/#dark-light-mode to access the flag directly. Here, click the drop-down menu next to "System interface dark/light mode" and select "Enabled".

2. Then search for "Force Dark Mode for Web Contents" or just move to chrome://flags/#enable-force-dark and enable it. This will enable dark mode for web pages in Chrome as well.
