Black Myth: Wukong has several different abilities, including spells, skills, and transformations. One such combat ability is the Spirit Skill, which allows players to transform into Spirits of Yaoguais and use their attacks for various effects. It is little different from a full transformation which is very limited. Spirits can also be captured by defeating elite Yaoguais to later use as Spirit skills. Spirit Skills can be unlocked early in Chapter 1 by meeting the Elder Sage for the first time. First you need to reach the Snake Trail Shrine in the Bamboo Grove and then go up the stairs. On the right side you will find the Elder Sage, who will give you the ability to absorb spirits. Just talking to him does the trick, as it starts a cutscene where the sage gives you the blessed gourd.

Note: If you complete Chapter 1 without unlocking the Spirit Skills, don't worry as you can travel back from the Keeper's Shrine.

After you unlock the blessed gourd from the elder sage, you need to collect spirits. In Black Myth Wukong, you will often encounter mini-bosses in the world or glowing elite enemies. Defeating these enemies will drop their Spirit Ashes. One of the earliest Spirit bosses you'll encounter is the Wandering Wight, who appears at the beginning of the game.
