In most cases, Minecraft tends to include realistic blocks in the game. The entire terrain generation consists of boulders and their variants, as well as dirt, grass, gravel, sand and more. One of these blocks is also clay. This block looks pretty much like its real life counterpart. Most importantly, it is special for several reasons, which we will explain later in this guide. But first we will cover where you can find clay or make it in Minecraft.

Most natural blocks in the Minecraft world cannot be produced and can only be discovered while exploring. There are several exceptions, and one of them is clay. Mud blocks are quite easy to make. All you need is a water bottle and a block of dirt.

This recipe gives you three glass bottles, but you only need one. With the bottle selected, walk up to a water source and right click on it. Doing so will immediately fill the bottle with water.

When it comes to the dirt block, you can easily break a grass block without a silk touch enchantment to get a dirt block.
