Despite phenomenal performances, Hardy has only received an Oscar nomination once for The Revenant as a supporting actor. The actor was reportedly convinced by co-star Leonardo DiCaprio to read the script, after which Hardy agreed to join the film.

Alejandro G. Iñárritu's The Revenant is famous for being the film that finally earned actor Leonardo DiCaprio his long-awaited Oscar for Best Actor. After being suspended four times, DiCaprio finally won the Academy with his outrageous performance as Hugh Glass in the period film.
