Kunal Nayyar fully realized why his character Rajesh Koothrappali faltered in the early seasons.

The unfortunate problem with Big Bang Theory's Raj Koothrappali

Kunal Nayyar is well known for his portrayal of a socially awkward but endearing astrophysicist, Rajesh Koothrappali, in the hit series The Big Bang Theory. A character who could not talk to women unless drunk brought a sense of humor to the show and catapulted Nayyar to global fame.

However, viewers had mixed reactions to Nayyar's performance in the first few seasons. But not only the audience, even the actor himself had an idea why his previous performance in the show was terrible.

British Indian actor Kunal Nayyar initially started working in the industry through advertisements and plays. But although there were minor skits, he first came into limelight in Rajiv Joseph's play Huck & Holden. In this, he portrayed the character of an exchange student who is eager to immerse himself in American culture before going home.
