While Mark Ruffalo did a good job portraying the character, Norton's cameo would be meatier than seeing another version of Ruffalo himself.

The real reason Edward Norton was fired from the MCU

The Incredible Hulk has been an integral part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe but has had a difficult time with his stories, thanks to the messy issues over his rights between Marvel and Universal Studios.

The MCU saw the Hulk debut in the second film of the MCU, and that was the first and last time we saw the original choice for the Hulk, Edward Norton, who appears to be playing the character. Then the character would be played by Mark Ruffalo, who to this day has written the role, debuting in The Avengers.

Speaking to Fresh Air, Edward Norton revealed why he didn't want to return to the role of the Hulk, despite how lucrative the franchise has been. However, with Deadpool & Wolverine fast approaching, Edward Norton could return to the MCU, given that his stipulation not to do superhero movies may no longer apply, given the nature of the film.
