William Shatner is known for his role as Captain James T. Kirk in the Star Trek series. Starring in the original series, the actor played the captivating captain for three seasons and a string of movies before leaving the chair for a new leader in The Next Generation.

While Patrick Stewart has since reprized his role from TNG in Picard, Shatner has yet to make an appearance on a new generation show. The actor mentioned that he would consider it if the producers avoided making it a gimmick like they did with Leonard Nimoy in JJ Abrams' Star Trek reboot.

William Shatner became a household name after starring in the original Star Trek series. Although the show only lasted three seasons, it developed a cult following, prompting Paramount to order a remake, which came in the form of original movies. Shatner's career took off to new heights with another string of successful films.
