The former creator of Donald Glover's Lando series has reportedly received backlash for comparing the end of the project to losing a child.

Solo: A Star Wars Story | Tour the Millennium Falcon with Donald Glover

After playing a younger Lando Calrissian in Solo: A Star Wars Story, actor Donald Glover would return as the character in his own spinoff series. However, last year's series director Justin Simien left the project and Glover took over creative duties alongside his brother Stephen Glover. It was later announced that the series would be made into a film.

Simien recently opened up about losing the project and how it felt after working on it for so long. He mentioned that they had gone so far as to create the show bible and that it felt terrible to lose the project afterwards. But fans criticize Simien's analogy where he compared the end of the project to losing a child.

Despite Solo: A Star Wars Story bombing at the box office, Donald Glover's portrayal of a young Lando Calrissian was appreciated by fans and critics alike. The Atlanta star would go on to get her own spinoff Disney Plus series, much like other Star Wars stories like Ahsoka, Obi-Wan Kenobi and The Mandalorian.
