A Way Out on Steam. A Way Out is an exclusively co-op adventure where you play the role of one of two prisoners making their daring escape from prison.

Any games console that connects to the internet is forbidden behind bars, so they might have to be pretty old like the console pictured. Games rated 18 are also banned. Prisoners must have the highest ranking on the Incentives and Earned Privileges in order to have a console in their cell.

Ok, there is no single player mode for A Way Out…. it is ONLY played Co-op. This means you have to have someone else join your game or join their game to be able to play the game.

Inmates do not have access to XBox, Playstation, or any other gaming console. Prisons throughout the United States are starting inmate tablet programs, with some DOCs providing their inmates with tablets for free, and others allowing inmates to buy the tablets from the commissary.

But according to the latest version of the Incentives and Earned Privileges guidance, prisoners who are sticking to the rules and working well towards rehabilitation are allowed access to some craft supplies. All prisoners are allowed to own pens, pencils, sketch pads and scrapbooks, playing cards and jigsaws.

The team behind A Way Out isn’t done with co-op games, it seems. Hazelight and EA have unveiled It Takes Two, a two-player action-adventure platformer with a very different setting than the earlier prison break title. It Takes Two is due sometime in 2021 for unspecified platforms.
