This has been done according to Section 69 of the IT Act, which aims to protect the country's privacy and integrity. A report by ANI suggests that this move is based on several complaints filed by users who have been harassed by people behind the various mobile loan apps due to non-payment of debts. The apps were said to lure people into availing loans but charged huge interest rates, often causing a failed repayment.
