Science and Technology Minister Dr Jitendra Singh called the establishment of the Bhartiya Antariksh Station – which was first publicly announced in 2019 – and the placement of India's first man on the moon as "cornerstone projects" in the country's space programme.

Indian scientists this week published findings from data collected by the Chandrayaan-3 lunar lander mission.

Data from the Alpha Particle X-ray Spectrometer (APXS) carried by the mission's rover showed that the Earth it observed was mainly made of two types of rock: one derived from magma and another from a type of moon rock called ferroanorthosite.
