A Reuters report reveals that the Indian government wants smartphone brands to fully equip their phones with NavIC by January 23, 2023, which doesn't seem reasonable.

In a meeting held in August and September, spokespeople from Apple, Xiaomi and even Samsung raised concerns that implementing the technology in future phones too soon could be a challenge. This requires hardware changes and higher production costs.

Commenting on the same, Samsung India's Binu George said, "This would increase costs as it requires changes in hardware design and additional investment to support India-specific devices. Also, companies are already gearing up for models to be launched in 2024."
