Instagram's hold on users comes in part from its smooth content consumption. A quick scroll up provides another hit of dopamine, fueled by decent content. But it looks like the Meta-owned platform is putting an end to endless scrolling with unskippable ads.

I found a BETTER way to run Instagram ads

Ads are the real money for any free-to-use social media platform. Given Instagram's layout, users can scroll up when they come across an ad. Although these ads are tailored to users' interests. I too more often than not skip these ads to quickly get to the content like an addict.

These ads were first met by Instagram users, who reported their frustration on Reddit. As you can see in the screenshot below, Instagram will show an "Ad Break" popup with a countdown timer. The popup will prevent you from scrolling further down until you view an ad.

But there is a catch. Instead of automatically showing you an ad, it asks you to scroll up and find an ad that has already appeared in your feed. You have to stare at the ad, after which a 6-second countdown begins. Once the countdown is over, you can keep scrolling until you see the next ad break.
