While we're still iPhone 16 and a year away from iPhone 17, it seems Apple has big plans for its iPhone 2025. According to notable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple plans to make the front camera on the iPhone 17 twice as powerful like the iPhone 15 series.

In a recent research note, Kuo discusses the business outlook for Genius Electronic Optical Company Limited, a China-based company that is an Apple supplier. In the note, Kuo has revealed that the Genius will benefit as it will be a "significant upgrade to the iPhone 17's front camera lens".

According to Kuo, the iPhone 17 will feature a 24MP/6P camera as opposed to the 12MP/5P lens of the latest iPhone series. For those unaware, the "P" here refers to "plastic" and it indicates the number of lens elements added to a camera module. Of course, more megapixels translates to more lens elements, or "Ps."

The rumored 6P lens in the front camera of the iPhone 17 is expected to provide images close to reality with increased sharpness and detail. Kuo says Genuis will remain the primary lens supplier for the front-facing cameras in the iPhone 17 series. As the 6P lens is priced almost 100-120% higher than its predecessor, Genius is therefore expected to pull in more profits and revenue in 2H25.
