A simple subject is a subject that has just one noun as the focus of the sentence. A subject is a noun, which is a person, place, thing, or idea. Every sentence has to have two parts: a subject and a verb (or predicate). When we have a simple subject, there is only one noun that completes the action in the sentence.

A CD is a small shiny disc on which music or information is stored. CD is an abbreviation for `compact disc’.

The compact disc (CD) is a digital optical disc data storage format that was co-developed by Philips and Sony to store and play digital audio recordings. It was released in 1982 branded as Digital Audio Compact Disc.

The full form of CD is the compact disc. It is a flat, tiny-rounded storage unit that can store information of up to 700 mb and 4.75 inches in diameter.

An Obsolete Format But now, many new cars no longer have CD players. Manufacturers have replaced the aging CD player with touch-screen media centers that offer streaming services, hands-free Bluetooth® and can play digital files from portable USB drives.

CDs are not “obsolete” and will be playable far into the future (Week 29, 2020) Q.

Now, let’s look at CD albums: CDs first began to decline in 2001 (looking past the one brief blip in growth in 2004). If CDs followed a similar timeline as vinyl, then we might be able to expect physical CDs to make a comeback within the next 10 years, around 2027.

This year, vinyl sales have outpaced CD sales in the United States for the first time since the 1980s. Vinyl records accounted for $232.1 million of music sales in the first half of the year, compared to CDs, which brought in only $129.9 million, according to a report from the Recording Industry Association of America.

CDs, on the other hand, have been on the decline. Their sales have dropped by 95 percent since 2000 (the peak days of CDs), according to a new report, and are currently at their lowest level since 1986. To say CDs have lost their cool factor is a little bit of understatement. Yet, there’s still good reason to buy them!

The mean lifetime for the disc population as a whole was calculated to be 776 years for the discs used in this study. As demonstrated in the histograms in Figures 18 and 19, that lifetime could be less than 25 years for some discs, up to 500 years for others, and even longer.

Those old compact discs you loaded up on at $15 a pop are now worth pennies on the Clinton administration dollar, thanks to a double-whammy change in consumers’ listening habits. Sales of new CDs have plummeted by about 90% over the past decade.

Vinyl is more fun, and often albums are mastered much better for vinyl, but CD is better quality and a lot more convenient. I collect both and much prefer CDs. I got into vinyl because I got a bunch of old records from my dad when he moved. I still buy both new and used.

There’s no question that CDs sound much better than MP3s. If you spring for Spotify Premium, you’ll still only have access to 320 kbps tracks, which is equivalent to MP3s. Tidal is one of the only streaming websites that streams in CD quality.

The highest quality MP3 has a bitrate of 320kbps, whereas a 24-bit/192kHz file has a data rate of 9216kbps. Music CDs are 1411kbps. The hi-res 24-bit/96kHz or 24-bit/192kHz files should, therefore, more closely replicate the sound quality the musicians and engineers were working with in the studio.

We agree, and that’s why today at Stream On we announced Spotify HiFi. Spotify HiFi will deliver music in CD-quality, lossless audio format to your device and Spotify Connect-enabled speakers, which means fans will be able to experience more depth and clarity while enjoying their favorite tracks.

But despite this, Spotify introducing a lossless, CD-quality option, let alone hi-res audio, would have been welcomed back then. It was (and still is) the most popular service of its kind – currently with over 130 million subscribers, compared with Amazon Music’s 55 million and Apple Music’s 60-odd million.

Spotify’s “very high” quality is normally taken to be 320kbps MP3. For the music played on Spotify, the original audio source is in CD format, which has an inherent streaming bandwidth of 1,411kbps. FLAC is usually referred to as a “lossless compression” format.

While FLAC files are up to six times larger than an MP3, they are half the size of a CD, and can have the same boost in audio quality. Furthermore, FLAC is not just restricted to 16-bit (CD quality), and you can buy files up to 24-bit/192kHz for another potential boost in performance.
