Chamar is a dalit community classified as a Scheduled Caste under modern India’s system of positive discrimination. Historically subject to untouchability, they were traditionally outside the Hindu ritual ranking system of castes known as varna. The term chamar is used as a pejorative word for dalits in general.

Is saini a lower caste? No. Saini’s are descendants of the Kshatriya class. They are considered the second highest class after Brahmins.

The community has been extra-rich due to being owners of land around Delhi, which is also one of the fertile region of India. The advent of modern education provided Jats a major share in all government services and business, strengthening the grip of the community in area surrounding Delhi and NCR.

The Tiwana are a Punjabi Jatt and Rajput clan from the Punjab region of India and Pakistan. The best-known member of this clan was late Malik Sir Khizar Hayat Tiwana who for some time remained Premier of the Punjab in British India, following Sir Sikandar Hayat Khan’s demise.
