More is fun. While Diablo III is fully playable solo, without any “raid” type content that requires multiple players to defeat, the D3 Team had co-operative multiplayer as their highest priority all during development.

Once you are both logged in, the secondary player just has to hit the X button to join the game on the main menu (there will be a visual explaining this, as well). That’s all you need to do to play local co-op for Diablo 3!

The Co-Op Experience Combo co-op is supported in the following configurations: Wireless LAN and Couch – two (or three) players on one Switch can connect with players on additional Switches via the local wireless option. Maximum number of players supported in this configuration is 4.

You can play Diablo III for Consoles online with friends (through Xbox LIVE or PlayStation® Network), through multiple networked machines (using an Xbox System Link or PSN’s LAN Play), or in offline couch co-op.

The Switch version of Diablo 3 has a wireless local multiplayer option, meaning that four players within close proximity of each other can link up to run rifts together — no internet connection required.

Diablo 3 is not a perfect game, but it is a fantastic one, and if you can stomach the persistent DRM, it is well worth your co-op dollar.

There is just a smidgen of small print to read through in the FAQ: There’s no access to the Auction House and matchmaking is restricted to other Starter Edition players, so you won’t be able to play with friends who have the full version of the game.

Local co-op is only available on console versions of Diablo III. So you cannot play local co-op with the Starter Edition, or any version of Diablo III on PC. Sadly no, the local coop is only for console. There are other great games to play local like Divinity Original Sin, Gauntlet and Hero siege.

The split-screen console gaming days may almost be over, but that doesn’t mean we can’t get split screen working on PC. For decades, the console has been the perfect couch co-op platform, but that’s not the case anymore. With a bit of preparation, we can actually turn any multiplayer game into split-screen on one PC.

Primarily, reboot your PC or console and try again. If the problem occurred on the PC, navigate to the Battle.net client. The client should automatically update the game. Alternatively, if you are stuck with the problem on consoles, navigate to the game and update it from the menu.

To add friends to your friends list, start your game and look at the bottom right for the small button that looks like a character silhouette. Clicking that button will bring up your friends list, as well as an option to add friends.

The Blizzard Downloader, which downloads patches, also uses TCP ports 6112 and the range 6881-6999.

How To Forward Ports

1. Start by logging in to your router.
2. Find your routers port forwarding section.
3. Put the IP address of your computer or gaming console in the applicable box in your router.
4. Put the TCP and UDP ports for your game in the corresponding boxes in your router.

List of Ports to Forward

The process for forwarding a port is generally:

1. Open a web browser open on your PC or console, and paste you router’s IP into the address bar.
2. You’ll now see your router’s settings menu.
3. In the port forwarding menu, you’ll need the details you just collected.
4. Enter your router’s IP address into the box.

3. Next, enter your router’s username and password.
