The definition of gassed is slang for drunk or intoxicated, or for being out of energy. Being drunk from drinking two bottles of wine by yourself is an example of being gassed. “To grass” on someone or some group is to be an informer. So if a grass is an informer, to grass, grassing or grassing up someone describes the act of informing. When you grass on someone or something, you are not only filling the role of informer but also of the betrayer.

A flapper was a certain type of woman in the United States in the 1920’s. Flappers were known for their unconventional style and behavior. Flappers had their own hairstyles and ways of dressing, especially bobbed hair and short skirts.

In the twenties, flapper girls would apply blush to their knee caps to draw attention to this part of the body (which was frowned upon to reveal at the time.) Not only did knee rouge create a “look at me” effect below the waistline, it brought a healthy glow to an unusual area.

The goal of this look was to look as much like a little boy as possible, and surprisingly it was a major influence on the appearance of flappers. It was what caused women to cut their hair so short, flatten their breasts with bandages, and change what they wore.

From the middle of the twenties on lips were colored in deep red, deep brownish reds, plum and orange. The shades changed later at the end of the twenties. Colors like rose, raspberry and medium red were new trend. Lipstick was applied as a “Cupid’s-Bow” (Armor’s Bow) to the upper lip.
