As of 30 June 2021, Autodesk has discontinued the student and education versions of SketchBook Pro and will no longer offer new versions, upgrades or updates. You can continue using your existing copy of SketchBook Pro until the end of your contract terms, but new downloads are not available.

With the update, Sketchbook will be switching back to being a paid app, just over three years since it changed from paid to free. No subscription model is planned.

Installing from the iTunes App Store

1. From your device, go to the App Store.
2. Search for and select SketchBook Pro Mobile.
3. Tap GET, then INSTALL. You will need to enter the password for your iTunes account for the app to be installed.
4. Tap OPEN. This opens SketchBook Pro and walks you through a demo.

Try SketchBook with a Wacom tablet, iPad Pro, or using an assortment of styluses. There are many options to choose from.

Autodesk has announced that its Sketchbook Pro version is available for free to all, starting May 2018. Autodesk SketchBook Pro has been a recommended digital drawing software for drawing artists, creative professionals, and anyone interested in drawing. Previously, only basic app was free to download and use.

A free program for mac, by Autodesk Autodesk SketchBook is a free multiplatform program (also available for Windows), that belongs to the category Multimedia with subcategory Graphic & Design and has been published by Autodesk.

Autodesk has announced that the full version of its digital drawing software, SketchBook, is now entirely free for desktop, mobile and tablet as of April 30 – with all of the Pro version’s features added to the Free version. This means there is no longer an option to have a SketchBook Pro subscription.

1. Click the downloaded file to run and install the app.
2. When complete, click the SketchBook Pro icon (on your desktop by default) and launch the app.

Exclusively on Android. SketchBook Pro on Android only supports the Samsung S Pen. There is no special set up required and the S Pen will give you true pressure-sensitivity.

In the PEN CONNECTION section, tap the Pen option and select Wacom Stylus. Press the button on the side of your stylus to pair it with the device. A blue light should flash on your stylus. In SketchBook, the UI changes.

Both the Windows and macOS editions of Sketchbook Pro now cost $19.99: not free, but by the standards of professional graphics tools, not that expensive either. Sketchbook has also ruled out a subscription model, so the software is a one-off purchase.

Download SketchBook Pro from Autodesk, Windows Store, or Mac App Store. Install and launch SketchBook Pro. Visit either the App Store or Google Play Store and search for SketchBook Pro. Click Install to get the app. I am currently a subscriber.

Tablet users – this version of Sketchbook Pro is optimized for Windows desktop use with pen peripherals. It is not an upgrade to the previous Autodesk SketchBook, which was optimized for tablet use.

SketchBook has transferred ownership to the company Sketchbook, Inc. The Sketchbook app will continue to be available via the Apple, Google, and Microsoft app stores. We will work closely with the new owners to ensure a successful transition and ongoing cooperation beyond that.
