Q. Can you eat in the IC Sheffield?

The IC Café serves hot meals and snacks throughout the day and night, including curries with rice or chips for dinner, to eat in or take away, a range of burgers plus a hot dish of the day special. The IC Café also sells sandwiches, wraps, snacks, hot drinks and soft drinks so come in and grab something to eat anytime.

We are currently experiencing a Council Wide network problem, therefore libraries are currently without internet, phone access and public computer access. We happily, still have books and our e-library service!

Q. How is the Information Commons at the University of Sheffield?

The Information Commons provides a comfortable and safe study environment, as well as extensive technology support, laptop loans, and a high demand collection of 120,000 books. A wide variety of study environments range from group study to silent study. There’s a comfortable cafe if you need to take a break or meet with friends.

Q. Is the Information Commons open to the public?

The Information Commons is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week to registered staff and students, and to registered Alumni members during library staffed hours. Children under the age of 16 are allowed entry to all IC spaces during staffed hours and to the IC Level 0 at any time if accompanied by a member of the University.

The Garden Room, situated on the ground floor of the Information Commons is no exception. It’s a place of relaxation and calm for students. This wellbeing space not only offers students a comfortable, relaxing break from their studies, but it also serves to encourage regular breaks away from electronic devices and the temptation to work long hours.

Q. Where can I book space at University of Sheffield?

You can also book a space in a number of teaching rooms across campus. In addition, the Students’ Union is offering a selection of drop-in spaces. For a full list, please visit the Learning Spaces web page. Our “Come Together, Write Now” sessions are now open to all students.
