What is the minimum score needed to pass? On the real exam administered by the NBCC, passing scores vary depending on which version of the exam you get. On our website, the passing scores for the practice simulations are 72% for IG, and 74% for DM.

The NCE has 200 questions and you are scored for 160; 40 are developmental/experimental and not scored for you. There are many forms of the NCE and typically the cutoff for passing the exam is in the 90s (97, 91, 99, etc.) – out of 160 questions. One hundred questions correct out of 160 is 62.5%.

The National Counselor Exam (NCE) is a very comprehensive examination and can be very overwhelming, especially when you are not prepared for how the instrument is constructed and administered.

The pass rate for the 2,508 first-time candidates is 84.5%.

What is a passing score on NCE exam? There are 200 questions on the NCE exam. The cutoff score to be considered as passing is in the high 90s.

If you fail the exam, you will have to wait at least three months from the test date before you can retest. The actual retest date will depend on the monthly testing schedule and site availability. You will need to send a new registration form and examination fee based upon your state.

When will I get my scores? The scoring process is completed approximately eight weeks after the exam testing window ends. You will be notified via email when your official scores are available in your ProCounselor account.

The National Counselor Examination (NCE) is the most portable examination in counseling. It is one of the examination options for NBCC’s flagship certification, the National Certified Counselor (NCC), and is required for licensure in some states.

You will be able to take the exam while your coursework is still recent. You will be guided through the process by a campus coordinator at your university. As long as you complete the application process, the exam score that you receive for certification can later be submitted to your state licensure board.

Your NCE or NCMHCE scores will not automatically be sent to your state board if you took the exam as a part of your NCC application. To order an official copy of your scores for state licensure or a third-party agency. You can login to your ProCounselor account to request a score verification from the online store.

Both the NCE and CPCE are multiple choice tests (a) through (d). With the NCE it was pretty easy to eliminate two of the four choices leaving only two to really choose from. The CPCE was a bit more difficult.

What are the NCE and the NCMHCE? The NCE is the National Counselor Examination for Licensure and Certification. The NCMHCE is that National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination.

Bear in mind that there is a limit of three years from the date of passing the NCE to complete the requirements for full certification. NBCC will send detailed information and instructions along the way. Remember to save these materials for easy reference during the process.

You can take the NCE up to four times within one year following the completion date of your nurse anesthesia educational program. If you do not pass within that first year, you will only have up to four more times within one more year to take and pass the NCE.

Should I take the NCE or the NCMHCE? The choice is completely yours: State counselor licensure boards contract with NBCC to use one or both of these examinations. The NCE is taken most often by final year graduate students, in the pursuit of becoming a National Certified Counselor.

If you were unsuccessful in your examination attempt, you may retake the exam on the next available date by and reregistering through ProCounselor. Your application provides for three attempts in a two year period to pass the exam before the application closes. There is a fee for reregistration.

Content Covered in the NCMHCE The National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE) consists of 10 simulated clinical mental health counseling cases. The simulations assess clinical problem-solving ability, including identifying, analyzing, diagnosing and treating clinical issues.

To become a National Certified Counselor, you must have an eligible degree and have earned a passing score on either the NCE or the NCMHCE, meet supervision and work experience requirements, and comply with conduct standards.
