The Volkswagen Passat is being discontinued after the 2022 model rolls out. Automotive giant Volkswagen has announced that its Passat model will be discontinued in the U.S., Car and Driver reports. The last available production of the car will be a limited-edition 2022 model that will see only 1973 units made.

That day has now come, with Volkswagen announcing that the Passat will be discontinued in the United States after the 2022 model year, and the automaker also revealed a Passat Limited Edition that commemorates the Chattanooga, Tennessee, plant that has built the Passat since 2011.

The 2017 Alltrack features Volkswagen’s 4MOTION all-wheel drive system as a standard feature and with that system comes an off-road mode intended to enhance the model’s performance.

Every 2019 Golf Alltrack comes with 4MOTION AWD, regardless of trim level. This is where the Golf Alltrack gets its name. “Track” is generally defined as a path that a person, animal, or vehicle has used. So “Alltrack” signifies the ability for the 2019 Golf Alltrack to drive on all tracks. Pretty clever, Volkswagen!

Alltrack ends production in December With SUVs accounting for 50 percent of the Volkswagen brand’s lineup in the U.S., the German automaker has shifted its focus to take advantage of the high demand. As a result, the two wagons will be replaced by a small SUV that will slot below the Tiguan.

Volkswagen has only confirmed the Mk 8 GTI and Golf R for America, and sadly won’t bring over this wagon and Alltrack. VW has revealed the wagon and Alltrack versions of the new eighth-generation Golf. These models won’t come to the U.S. market, sadly, as Volkswagen has decided to focus on SUVs.
